Course Name: Advanced Plant and Soil Science

Course description: 

Advanced Plant and Soil Science Professional Development is designed to teach professional science and agricultural science educators appropriate knowledge and skills so that they may help students learn how plant and soil science influences a vast body of knowledge and serves as the basis for many other fields of science. CPE credit is 15 hours for each section.

There are 6 sections of Advanced Plant and Soil Science. It is recommended that course sections be taken in order.

Intended Audience: 

All teachers assigned to teach Advanced Plant and Soil Science must participate in this Texas Education Agency (TEA)-approved training prior to teaching the course effective with the 2012-2013 school year. Teachers who were assigned to teach this course in 2010-2011 and/or 2011-2012 will have 12 months from the date the course is first offered to meet the TEA-approved training requirement. For teachers who have not previously taught this course, once a district has confirmed that a teacher is enrolled in and making progress toward the completion of the online PD course, the district may assign the teacher to teach the high school course.
