This course is designed to introduce teachers to the content standards in the new Math TEKS. The course is organized in grade bands around focal areas. Three focal areas are addressed: Place Value and Powers of Ten, Addition and Subtraction, and Foundations for Multiplication. During the course, teachers will have the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the content standards, work example problems, and practice responding to student thinking in each of the three focal areas. CPE credit is 6 hours.
